TOUCH New Series Starring Kiefer Sutherland

While fans of Jack Bauer are still waiting for the yet unconfirmed but proposed film version of 24, they will soon get to see Kiefer Sutherland in a new series that debuts early next year. Touch is from ‘Heroes’ creator Tim Kring  and is a premonition style thriller that sees widower Sutherland finding a way to connect with his mute son who’s able foretell potentially catastrophic events by being able to see the myriad of connections that exist through numbers.

Sutherland’s character Martin Bohm tries to decrypt these signals and help save those in danger – though we won’t see him resort to his Bauer style torture to make his point and he’ll need to rely on his skills as passionate communicator to stop bad things from happening. The pilot episode was directed by Francis Lawrence (Water for Elephants) and Fox was obviously impressed and officially ordered 13 episodes.

Danny Glover and Gugu Mbatha-Raw also star.

Synopsis:

At the center of Touch is Martin Bohm (Sutherland), a widower and single father, haunted by an inability to connect to his mute 11-year-old son, Jake (David Mazouz). After multiple failed attempts at keeping Jake in school, Martin is visited by Clea Hopkins (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), a social worker sent to evaluate Jake’s well-being. Everything changes when Martin discovers that Jake possesses the gift of staggering genius – the ability to see things that no one else can and the patterns that connect seemingly unrelated events. Jake is indeed communicating. But it’s not with words, it’s with numbers. Martin meets Arthur DeWitt (Danny Glover), a professor and an expert on children who possess special gifts when it comes to numbers. Now, it’s up to Martin to decipher the meaning and connect the numbers to the cast of characters whose lives they affect.
